Burnaby Notary COVID-19 Safety Plan
Please wearing a mask
To reduce the spread of COVID-19, please wear a mask when entering the building. On the ground floor, there is a camera to the right that can take your temperature and tell you if it’s safe for you to continue inside the building. This technology advises persons who have a fever to leave the building without affecting others.
How to check your temperature
Inside the building, there are signs indicating that if you have a fever or cough, you should not enter any offices. Additionally, there are signs directing all persons to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others. In the lobby (near the elevator to parking), a foot-powered station to wash your hands has been installed.
Directions to the notary’s office
To find Paul Williams, Notary Public’s office, please take the escalator or stairs to the second floor. At the elevator, there are signs directing you to stand about 6 feet away from the door to give a person ample space to exit the elevator. Inside the elevator, signs have been placed on the floor allowing just two persons and directing you to stand apart from each other. You should enter the elevator alone, if possible.
Please depart the elevator on the fifth floor (turning to your right) to reach suite 501. A receptionist, who will be wearing a mask, will direct you to use a hand sanitizer to clean your hands. Your Notary will come out to greet you. A bottle of hand sanitizer is also placed on the desk inside the meeting room for your convenience.
Taking steps to sanitize the room
After your appointment, the room will be sanitized. Once you return to the lobby, you may use a touch-free hand sanitizing dispenser situated next to the stairs. If you have personal health concerns, please let your Notary know.
Meeting Remotely with a Notary
In British Columbia, presently, a Notary may meet with you remotely (using video conferencing) to deal with legal documents such as Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney. You may find a copy of the COVID-19 Safety Plan here.
