What is the Home Owner Grant

In 2022, the BC Government will contribute $1. 975 million toward the Home Owner Grant to reduce the annual property taxes paid by 92% of people who own residential property that is their principal residence.

Where does the Home Owner Grant Apply?

Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Capital Regions

If you live in Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and the Capital Regional districts, your home owner grant may be as much as $570.00. Persons who are 65 or older (or who have a disability or live with a relative who has a disability) may receive a homeowner grant for as much as $845.00.

Rural Areas and Northern BC

If you live in northern B.C. and in rural areas, your home owner grant may be as much $770.00. Seniors and persons who experience a disability may receive a home owner grant for as much as $1045.00.

What if I you are not eligible for the home owner grant?

Seniors with low-income seniors, veterans and persons with a disability may apply separately for an income grant supplement if they are not eligible for the homeowner grant due to the value of their home.
